How to build the best tube amp you can get | Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mark 3
Have you always wanted to know how Hughes & Kettner builds the Triamp Mark3?
Here you can find out how to do it. This video is an absolute must for lovers of real tube amplifiers and German engineering.
Every TriAmp Mark 3 starts its life with the beat of a real metal machine! Although each TriAmp is made entirely by hand, modern machinery helps us to guarantee the highest levels of precision and accuracy, making every TriAmp Mark 3 a high precision, quality product.
Here you can see the complete production process, from the metal chassis to the complete amplifier in all its details, including the chassis assembly, the tube selection via VTI and the subsequent “wedding” - step by step!
TriAmp Mark 3 - that means: No limits. No compromises. This is the result of combining 40 years of tube amplifier know-how with absolute technical freedom. The result is an amplifier with a range of professional sounds that no other amplifier in the world can match. Best of all, the breathtaking versatility and inspiring tonality of the TriAmp Mark 3 is matched only by its simplicity and ease of use. Each of the TriAmp Mark 3's six independent, action-packed channels represents an entire era of sound, and each of these six eras can be routed to three independent tube power amps.
So it's no surprise that the technician proudly puts the serial number and his signature on the paperwork of each TriAmp after the amp has been assembled and soundchecked.
Each TriAmp Mark 3 has been developed, perfected and produced to the highest quality standards - all for one purpose: to provide guitarists with the best, most versatile and most powerful tube amplifier in the world.

what do these pedals sound like with The Boss Katana 100w 2x12 amps?
Not seen a bad word about Dom and rightly so. Love his playing and very interesting to listen to.
This device is unique in the world.
Thanks a lot
I wanted to watch this interview but i can't do it with the lip smacking and gum chewing noises. Its awful, I'd rather impale my face than listen to that.
It's always a joy to watch Devin play.
This video needs timestamps!
I got two H&K TM212 cabinets today. They're both going back. The cloth isn't installed smoothly and has waves. One of them isn't square so any head you put on top wobbles (the other is fine) and they can't be stacked because the feet aren't taller than the handle of the cab below it. What an absolute joke.
Why does the offical H&K website have malware on it as of this moment?
do hughes & kettner amps need load boxes too? or redbox DI is enough to make direct recordings without damaging the amp if it has no cabinets?
No loadbox necessairy unplug the speakerbox and the outputtranformer ist take out of the game
That guy keeps hitting a really bum note. Unless Adams wrote it that way for some reason?
Yah Yah Yah It is Not a Girlie Pedal
And we have this orange light bar that ....
For my taste a little bit too much treble, on the other hand it does not have a Presence control, so it's ok. I prefer turning up mids and reducing treble and a moderate bass use, so I get a nice Marshall tone, but with a better sounding, less scratchy treble. Harmonics reproduction is fine, so are dynamics. In this price range excellent, as you get good clean up to even Metal tones and everything in between. Clean channel has it's own voice, but also can be adjusted similar to a Fender or Vox, while Lead channel is in my opinion more British voiced, with the right settings you can even adjust some hot-rod Marshall tones, but also different ones. A lot of tone for such a lunchbox amps, one "disadvantage", it has, it really is running very hot very soon, also because of the closed transparent Plexi front, but up to now this did not affect the sound negatively. I had preferred a separate 16 and 8 ohms speaker output, but ok, this solution also works. What I also had liked, had been a non-symmetrical post-power-amp line out without the red box, but for the price you hardly can complain.
this was a stupid comercial
This is a subjective opinion ;-)
@@HughesandKettneramps no facts , just a candy commercial
@@breakfastbuddy5 No facts? All facts and formats about the product are displayed at the end. Even the back with all the ports can be seen. ... Still as a small addition to close a knowledge gap, this spot was produced without AI at the time. We really froze the Ampman in water and recorded the thawing process with the camera and played it backwards. Many people thought this spot was really good. But well, there is always THE ONE who doesn't like something. ;-)
By the way, it's always nice to see that people with ZERO videos or any other creative input in their channels are the harshest critics. ;-)
too many knobs...focus more on tone
We also have many amplifiers with fewer buttons. But if you want to use all the possibilities of the TriAmp Mark 3 comfortably, you also need a lot of controls.
used it for every recent gig I've done - love it
this way beyond imagination 🏆 ....if my Boss Gt1K couldn't nail so many legendary amp tones i would go 4 this (no doubt)
Wow great documentary 🎉
Vielen Dank für das Lob :-)

Dankeschön DizzyKrissy, das große Kino war einfach mal fällig :-)
Come on, H&K. What’s with the AI voice over? You’re better than that. You’re a musical instrument company. Hire an actual voice over ARTIST, don’t buy into this AI nonsense. Why should artists support your company if you won’t support artists?
The use of AI is often viewed critically, but AI can often even help to preserve or even create jobs. Why? If we use AI for a voice-over, for example, and thus save money in this area, we can invest more in our needs elsewhere, namely where we neither want to nor can do without the human mind, creativity, performance and sensitivity: In human labor where it is indispensable, in development, in production, in marketing and so on. We build “musical instruments” where the human being is always at the center on both sides of the coin - in the creation and in the use of the instrument. - AI even helps us to create and maintain jobs and secure them for the future. Which is not so easy in times like these!
@@HughesandKettneramps All very good points, but the fake voice just cheapens a really wonderful and insightful video about H&K hand built amps. The fake voice makes cheapens the brand… and I say this as a fan and VERY SATISFIED player of H&K amps.

The ugly blue light is a dealbreaker for me. Looks digital!
You can dimm the light to zero
It will be great if you can share a few seconds of the basement test run at maximum loud! Many of us don't have any possibility to put the Triamp at that level and listen how it sounds 🎸📻
well, that power may not be visible in a audio/video reacording ... it´s very very very loud!

Those germans with their marketing bs. H&K and ENGL market their products as handmade. Everything is made by machines and just assembled by people. Furthermore pcb mounted tube sockets and pots.... on 4k amps... come one you have to be fucking kidding...
Hello Patatokeftes, First of all: Machine “help”, used in the right place, guarantees maximum dimensional accuracy - every owner of a “new tool” is happy when he sees that his beloved (and expensive) favorite toy is perfectly made! Or to put it another way: Any inadequacy at the start of the production process can result in subsequent faults that tarnish the overall result - a TriAmp is manufactured to the highest Made in Germany quality standards, so certain processes in the manufacturing sequence are not up for debate - it is simply expected! On the subject of “free-wired” amplifiers in conjunction with potentiometers and sockets: The free wiring of electronic components in guitar tube amplifiers can be quite a good sounding solution - but is difficult to realize and extremely susceptible to the slightest interference. Smaller one- or two-channel amplifiers can be built this way - but a versatile and comprehensive solution like the TriAmp Mark 3 cannot work this way - on the contrary. The signal quality in terms of hum, noise and crosstalk is extremely dependent on how the many individual cable connections or the cable harness are laid. A single cable that is not laid “perfectly” can cause a whole chain of interference in the amplifier. This may still work for a simple top with one or two channels and a manageable number of components, but for a complex top such as the TriAmp Mark 3 with three independent amplifiers, 15 tubes, two separate rows of potentiometers and three separate and individually switchable tube power amplifiers, point-to-point cabling is not only not feasible, it's strongly discouraged. Hope that helps, best, Team H&K
I use the Hughes & Kettner Duotone with a H&K Custom Class 4x12 with V30s and the g12 30 anniversary speakers (x pattern) and it sounds awesome at home and in a full band mix. I’m not sure if the MK3 has a second master volume, for me that is such an underrated feature, However the stuff I’ve heard of this MK3 amp it’s incredible, it can really do a lot, the self biasing feature is such a good idea when using so many tubes and if you are out gigging a lot. Brilliant piece of kit, I can see it being an amp for life and if you are an experienced player you will get this dialled in beautifully 👌🏻 Definitely intrigued to see if we get a MK4 in the future maybe with the same features plus the second master volume added and possibly IR’s and effects like the lunch box heads. Either way great work as always Hughes & Kettner 👏🏻
Thanks for your kind words, TriAmp Mark 3 has a 2nd insert, it's called "Master Insert", where you can use a volume pedal for Master-Volume controll "on the fly" :-)

thank you so much for your nice feedback - great to hear that you like the Tubemeister
Excellent demo of this product.
I would love to try a Triamp of any version but they're probably way too loud, my Grandmiester 40 with the 1x12 could get me enough noise complaints if I turned it up on max wattage already. 😅
you´re right, in most situations a 40 watt tube amp will do the job. In many cases, people estimate the wattage of an amplifier completely falch. Just because 100 sounds like a lot, they often think that it has to be just that. With the 40 watt Grandmeister you can already "pull a few slices of sausage from the plate" (as we say in Germany) ;-)
cool! I got a Mk2 and love it but i really want one of these!
thats a good idea :-)
